WW2 Zeiss 8x60 Eagle M Deckmount BLC Binocular 8 U-boat. Here is an exceedingly rare and well preserved pair of WW2 German 8x60 M eagle deckmount binoculars from Carl Zeiss, Jena. With pristene glass, working filters and superbly preserved vulcanite body finish. The binoculars are completely unrestored, not needing restoration. These models are generically referred to as "U boat" binoculars because of their superior lowlight performance. In fact, this particular piece seems unlikely to have been intended for use on a submarine as it is clearly a mounted optic with sights (including a graticule with illumination window) for the aiming of an artillery or anti-aircraft piece. The internal cleanliness of these binoculars that I have never opened and cleaned leads me to believe that they were waterproofed to an unprecedented level for their time, and the "M" demarcates them as naval binoculars as in Kriegsmarine. £2400
